My Placement with Birmingham Live

I have a contact that works at Birmingham Live, Gurdip Thandi, a Local Democracy Reporter, who graciously passed along my information to Hiring Manager Lynn Davis. Davis then offered me a placement opportunity to work with Birmingham Live from April 29 – May 3, 2019.

My placement duties that I performed and gained while I was there was as follows:

  • Monitor and research news stories.
  • Publish an article
  • Attend court with court reporter Ross McCarthy for news updates on a court case.
  • Contribute to a Birmingham Live knife crime story with reporter Stephanie Balloo by investigating at the scene of the crime by taking pictures, getting information from local authorities, and reported back to my editor by writing up what I saw at the scene of the crime as well as forwarding my photos that I took in order for that information to get added to the news article.
